What is a “Friend of the Festival”?

Friends of the Festival (decision counselors) are ordinary people who want to experience something extraordinary … to take hold of one of the greatest privileges a Christian can have … to share in the joy of welcoming a new believer in Christ!

The Gospel will be proclaimed multiple times at Celebrate Freedom® 2008, and prayerfully hundreds will respond by making a decision for Jesus Christ. We are calling for an equal number of enthusiastic volunteers to greet each of them with love, encouragement, and guidance.

As a Friend of the Festival, you will connect with an individual making a commitment to Christ. You will pray with and for the new believer(s) and gather their contact information so that a local church will be able to follow up with them.

How do I become a “Friend of the Festival”?

To serve as a Friend of the Festival, you need to complete counselor training, a video session where instructors explain how to check in at the festival, how to locate decision-makers, and how to use the materials you will be giving them.

Sign up NOW to become a Friend of the Festival. To serve as a Friend of the Festival, you need to attend a counselor training session at your church or through your small group, or attend a community-wide training event and be registered by August 27, 2008.

STEP 1: TRAIN—Find out when Friend of the Festival counselor training is taking place at your church OR participate in a community wide training near you. Be trained in under an hour!

Step 2: REGISTER—Once you’ve completed the counselor training, you are almost an official Friend of the Festival. You’ll just need to register your name through your church or online to complete the process.

Step 3: REMINDER EMAIL—Just before the festival, you will receive a reminder email. You must print this and bring it with you to the festival.

STEP 4: CHECK IN—When you arrive at the Georgia International Horse Park, go to counselor check-in with your confirmation email and ID. There you will receive a counselor visor and materials. Don’t forget to bring a small Bible.

STEP 5: BRIEFINGS–Prior to serving, attend one on-site counselor briefing for each area in which you plan to counsel. Gospel presentations will be given in the following areas of the festival: the Livin It® action sports area and the main stage with Luis Palau. Check this website in August for a schedule of counselor briefings.

Step 6: PRAY—Pray for God’s guidance, and then go help someone find Jesus!
